My Year Recaps

If you are familiar at all with the YouTube travel film scene, surely you have heard of Sam Kolder. He is a world renown filmmaker who made a name for himself through innovative editing and cinematic camera work. When I first bought my Sony in 2018, I was inspired by him to make my own year recap videos while learning the new equipment.

My Year 2018. I spent the year learning how to use Slog2 and LUTs for color correction. I definitely made a lot of mistakes but they only helped me improve in 2019. I also tried some Adobe After Effects basic animation in this video, which added a neat little effect to the footage.

My Year 2019. After learning from my mistakes in 2018, I put together another recap video that is bigger, brighter, and more adventurous. I feel a significant improvement in my coloring & cinematography, as well as shot selection and pacing.
