LI TCG Show in Newsday!
This is a still taken from the June ‘24 Hype Reel that I created for the LI TCG Show. Featured in this picture are Zeus (left) and Daria (Right).
Mom, I’m in the newspaper! No I didn’t do anything illegal!
I was browsing instagram when I saw the LI TCG Show page post that they were featured in Newsday. Immediately excited, I clicked the link and to my surprise, I saw that they had chosen a still from the video that I created for the LI TCG Show’s YouTube back in June.

It’s funny- when I originally took this shot of Zeus and Daria, I already knew this was going to be the “money shot” of the video. I had seen them earlier in the day and asked if I could take some video of them, but as always with event coverage, something urgent happens that needs my immediate attention. When I was finished and ready to film them, they vanished; and my heart sank. I knew that having Pikachu & Charmander cosplayers would bring so much value to the video, and even though their outfits were super bright and stood out from the crowd, they were no where to be found.
I was struggling to find something else to end my video with, but as the day quickly came to an end, I was feeling sad that I didn’t have that one shot I needed to wrap the piece up with a nice bow. As people started leaving the show floor, I saw a little yellow hat rise out amongst the rest- and it was Zeus! I approached them and asked them again if I could film them, to which they graciously accepted once more, and I filmed the push in gimbal shot on them that you can see at the end of the video. Once I started doing that, I realized, this is it. This is the shot I’ve been looking for, and this is exactly how I’m ending the reel. And the rest is history.
Fun fact, this is actually not the first time I’ve ever been featured in a newspaper. When I was in high school, I was actually randomly selected to represent New York State at The Washington Journalism and Media Conference down in Virginia at George Mason University! At first, my parents thought it was fake, but I always felt it was my Hogwarts letter. I got to travel to a place I had never been before and meet industry leaders who change the world as we see it every day. It was such an amazing experience I will never forget. Once I returned, I was interviewed by a local newspaper; unfortunately, I can’t find the article online anymore. Now I hope that NikPix Productions will be interviewed one day!
